Top camera gifts for kids
1. This Instax Mini is great for children as young as age 5. Confession, I bought this for my kids and I've actually been using it myself! For a good adult version I'd go with the Kodak Mini Shot which has this great retro hipster vibe. I love these because instant pictures make great keepsakes. I recently used this during my son's 8th birthday and sent each of the kids home with a picture. You can choose the insta film in rainbow (really fun!) or the insta film in classic white.
2. VTech makes really great options for younger kids, see a list of the VTeck Kids Cameras. We had the Vtech Kidi Zoom for years and everyone loves it. They also came out with a cameo version The kids can also do short videos and it's indestructible! I've put the Vtech Smart Watch on my shopping list this year for the kids.
3. If you are shopping for a teen I'd consider the Nion Coolpix W300. It is waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and freezeproof. Sooo, if your child is rougher on the gear, it's a great option. Also a great option for a camera you'd like to take adventuring and not worry about. It also has an optical zoom and shoot 4k video. Make sure you register with Nikon USA, they have a great warrantee program I've personally used!
4. The Cannon Powershot is another great point and shoot options. In fact I'm obsessing over this Cannon Powershot Mark II simply because of the retro vibe. This little guy can fit in your pocket, has an 3x optical zoom, and boosts Dual Sensing IS to help your teen focus easier when photographing a moving subject or in low light. Also, wi-fi and video... so many options for this little point and shoot.
Happy shopping and happy shooting!
